A Journey of Commitment to Our Oceans
A heartfelt thank you to every volunteer who rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Your commitment and dedication from February 27th to March 1st, 2026 made this mission in the Costa Rican Caribbean a success.
In addition, volunteers from San José, Heredia, Limón, and Cartago came together with enthusiasm and purpose. They responded to nature’s call and showed that active citizenship plays a key role in protecting biodiversity.
Through this experience, participants not only supported conservation efforts but also strengthened teamwork and leadership in real contexts.
Building Hope: Protecting the Leatherback Turtle
As part of this alliance, Greentalist joined the fieldwork at Pacuare Reserve Volunteers supported the construction of turtle hatcheries and learned about coastal conservation.
These hatcheries are essential, as they protect turtle eggs from natural and human threats. For example, species such as the Leatherback, Hawksbill, and Green turtle depend on safe nesting areas to survive.
In addition, this experience became a meaningful learning space. Volunteers understood the real challenges of conservation while contributing directly to solutions.
We deeply recognize the work of Pacuare Reserve. For over 35 years, they have protected Caribbean ecosystems and marine life. Thanks to this collaboration, more hatchlings will have the opportunity to safely reach the ocean each season.
Living Memory and Action from Home
We extend a special thank you to Helen Kidwell, who documented this experience through photographs, videos, and interviews. In the coming weeks, we will share more of her material as a reflection of teamwork and impact.
For those who could not join, conservation also starts at home. For example, reducing plastic use, managing waste properly, and caring for water sources are simple but powerful actions.
As a result, everyday decisions can directly support the health of our oceans and communities.
We invite you to stay connected to our social media channels. There, we will share upcoming opportunities and practical ways to take action.
Together, small actions can create lasting change.
