For more than two decades, Greentalist has designed and operated group experiences in Costa Rica for universities, schools, sports teams, and youth organizations from around the world. Here is why group leaders trust us with their trip.
Proven Experience
Operating since 2001, with more than 20 years managing international groups in Costa Rica. We know what it takes to move a group of students or athletes safely and smoothly, from arrival to departure.
Service + Adventure, Education + Service
Every program blends academic learning, community impact, and outdoor adventure. It is the fusion that keeps a group engaged well beyond a standard tour or a standard service trip.
Exclusive Research Permits
We hold the legal and operational standing to facilitate biological and scientific research permits inside Costa Rica's protected areas, ideal for university field courses and research based programs.
360° Support, Before and After Travel
We support your curriculum planning before the trip, provide 24/7 field support while your group is here, and guide post-trip reflection sessions once you are back home.
Built for your group, not off a shelf
These are examples of what we can build for your group. Every program is adjusted to your budget, dates, and curriculum.
Using our institutional research permits, your students collect real field data alongside local biologists in national parks and protected reserves. The program blends structured coursework with hands on conservation work such as reforestation, water monitoring, and wildlife tracking, and closes with a research presentation your group can bring back to campus.
Your team trains alongside Costa Rican athletes and coaches in local sports clinics, spends a day volunteering on a community project, and takes on an adventure activity such as whitewater rafting or surfing. It is built to develop team leadership on and off the field.
Your group works side by side with a local community on projects such as school construction, water systems, or classroom support, while living the day to day rhythm of rural Costa Rica. It is designed as a full cultural immersion, not a short visit, and closes with a shared reflection on what the group built together.

Questions group leaders usually ask
We recommend starting the conversation at least four to six months before your travel dates, especially for university research programs that need permit coordination. That said, we have designed programs on shorter timelines when the dates allow it.
Most of our group programs work well with groups of 10 to 30 people. Smaller or larger groups are possible, we simply adjust the logistics and pricing to fit.
Yes. During the discovery call we go through your specific learning objectives or athletic goals, and the itinerary is built around them, not the other way around.
Accommodation, meals, in-country transportation, bilingual guides, activity and program fees, and field support for the full length of the trip. International flights, travel insurance, and personal expenses are not included.
Safety planning is built into every program, including risk assessments, 24/7 field support, and guides trained in group safety protocols. We also provide a pre-travel orientation for chaperones and, when needed, parents.
Yes. After the discovery call, we send a written proposal covering the itinerary, costs, and logistics, so you have everything you need to get approval from your school, university, or organization.
Let's design the trip your group will talk about for years.
From the first call to the final reflection, we handle the details so you can focus on your students, athletes, or team.
